The Godfather is a 1972 film directed by Francis Ford Coppola and starring, among others, by Marlon Brando and Al Pacino as well as lifted from Mario Puzo's novel writing (also titled The Godfather). This film tells the story of a Mafia family in the United States led Don Vito Corleone (Brando) and is often considered the best films in its genre. By the American Film Institute, The Godfather is ranked as the third best American film history.

Overview of the movie The Godfather

Michael was the third of four children Corleone family. Aware that his family runs a dirty and bloody business, Michael chose to serve his country, the United States and became a hero in World War II.

An assassination attempt by drug kingpins, Virgil Solozzo, to Vito Corleone, Michael's father, as Don Vito rejected the proposal offered Solozzo narcotics business. That effort failed and Vito successfully brought to the hospital.

The second attempt at the hospital tried again but Michael managed to hide his father before the killers came.
This enrages the second attempt Santino, elder brother Michael, who immediately raided the residence of Tataglia family, who had been to support Solozzo. This attack led to the killing of Bruno, the son of Don Philip Tataglia.

Solozzo-also offer a deal to avoid a protracted war. But he just wants to make a deal with Michael, because of Santino, who is a candidate replacement for Vito Corleone, is a temperamental person.

Appointment was agreed. But Michael, who does not like the disruption Solozzo against her father, preparing a plan the murder of Solozzo and Captain McCluskey, the corrupt police officers who will accompany Solozzo throughout the meeting. This plan he was stacking with Santino and Tom Hagen, as well as attorneys' adoptive brother Corleone family. Michael will be the executor of the killing both.

The killing was performed successfully. And he immediately fled to Sicily to avoid backlash Tataglia family and the NYPD.
Inter-gang warfare ensued between the Corleone family against Tataglia assisted by Barzini and the three other mafia families.
New York Police angered by the death of Captain McCluskey, the gangsters attacked and raided most of their dark business.
Barzini managed to lure Santino Corleone out of the house and him with bullets at the gates of the highway. Santino Corleone was killed.
Vito Corleone, who is still sick, crying over the death of Santino. Then he offers a contract to the five mob families to stop the war. Don Vito willing to distribute narcotics cooperation with the condition that Michael may return to the United States unmolested.

Agreement was agreed and Michael returned to his family and began to take over the reins of leadership from his father who never really recovered from his illness.
Vito delivered a variety of important advice to Michael is ready to face all the problems that come when in-ordained her as a Godfather. Vito died of a heart attack while playing with son Michael, Anthony, in the garden.

After the death of his father, Michael finish off the mafia family leader who was preparing a trap for him. Michael also kill Moe Greene, the hotelier who is a partner in Las Vegas Corleone, but was no longer respect for the family. And he also killed the family traitor, like Sally Tessio, caporegimes * Corleone family, and Carlo Rizzi, who is the husband of Michael's own younger sister, Constanza.

After all this killing is successful, Peter Clemenza, caporegimes remaining, and a number of men the Corleone family, went to Michael in his office and kissed his hand and said, "Don Corleone ....".

* Caporegimes is the head of a Mafia family under the auspices of other mafia families stronger.

This film is my favorite movie, because for the first time I saw the mob kingpin from a different angle. Unlike the other Mafia films that depict only the cruelty, murder, mafia bosses who get mad easily and conveniently kill his own men because of trivial errors, then the Godfather depict the Mafia as a man with many problems. They also have a line between right and wrong, although the boundaries are different from society at large. And the killing is a last resort in resolving a problem, except of a traitor. Action and persuasive lure of bribes is the path most often they are following. Very similar to reality.
The plot of this film is built very well. I love the scene where Vito Corleone received a number of guests who come specifically to ask for help when his daughter's wedding Constanza. But the end of the story feels a bit awkward because Michael is so easy it's men killed all the other mafia leaders while attending the baptism of his nephew Michael himself.
